Srinagar Police arrests a drug peddler, contraband substance seized

December 27 : Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar, arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Shiraz Chowk intercepted one suspect who was identified as Sahil Showkat Wagay resident of Dupatyar Bijbehara. The officers were able to recover 400gms Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Khanyar where he remains in custody.

Case FIR No. 78/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered & investigation initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
