Srinagar : A millitant was killed in an encounter at Awantipora area of South Kashmir Awantipora on Tuesday.
A police officer said that the militant namely Shahid Ahmed son of Mohammad Ashan of Arwani Bejbhera was gunned down in a brief gunfight at Charso area of Awantipora.
The officer said that the encounter ensued after a joint team of forces including Army, SoG and CRPF cordoned of the area.
The officer said that the slain militant belonged to Arwani village of southern Kashmir.
The officer further said that shahid had joined the militancy ranks only four days ago.
