Srinagar Police arrests four gamblers

February 14: On a credible input Srinagar Police arrested four gamblers from a gambling site.

A police party from Police Station Nigeen raided a gambling site following an input about gambling activities in Saderbal area of District Srinagar. Four persons identified as Farooq Ahmad Zargar, Tariq Ahmad Sofi both residents of Saderbal,  Mohd Yousuf Khar resident of Kander Mohalla Ashai Bagh and Shabir Ahmad Mir  resident of Mirza Bagh Saderbal were arrested by police for gambling offences.

Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹ 9,050 from the gamblers.

Case FIR No. 10/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and further investigations into the matter has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
