Srinagar Police arrests 03 drug peddlers, contraband substance recovered

February 28: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers on a checkpoint at Haft Chinar Crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Shergarhi intercepted three persons identified as Shavaiz Ahmad resident of Tangdhar, Parveez Ahmad resident of Kupwara and Nayeem Manzoor resident of Chadoora Budgam. Officers at the check point were able to recover 50 grams of heroin from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station Shergarhi where they remain in custody.

Case FIR No. 10/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shergarhi. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
