‘Kupwara so for Coronavirus free zone: Anshul Garg
Srinagar, April 2, : District Administration Kupwara has created 14 quarantine centres at different places. “Though Kupwara is Coronavirus free zone as on date but, yet we have established quarantine centres at 14 different locations. We have total bed capacity of 900 out of which 85 have been occupied by those who have travel history and are in quarantine,” District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg told Kashmir News Trust in an exclusive chat.
Garg said that five patients with travel history from the district were found Covid-19 suspects but their tests were found negative. “So for we don’t have any patient that requires to be ventilated. Only those patients who suffer from acute respiratory problems need ventilators and so for, thankfully, no such patient has emerged in district Kupwara,” he said adding a separate Isolation Centre has been created in Kupwara for which equipments are being procured but that need a nod from Government of India as the equipment has to be airlifted.
District Development Commissioner Kupwara while responding to a question said that there are two critical care ambulances present in the district. He said that in Kupwara hospitals, OPD’s have been closed and doctors posted in the hospital have been asked to work in field so that they could screen the suspects properly. Garg added that patients with other diseases or those who require surgeries are being taken care of as well.
Anshul Garg appealed people, especially those who are active on social media not to create panic among people and don’t post anything without authentication. “We have registered over 35 FIR’s so for against those who have violated Prohibitory Orders. People are asked to quarantine themselves at home as this is the only way to defeat this lethal virus,” he said and sought cooperation from media personnel.
He said all the 145 migrant labourers present in the district are being taken care of and essential commodities are being distributed among them. “There is no short fall of essential commodities. We are delivering eatables and ration and cooking gas to people and they should not panic,” he said. (KNT)
