‘We have sent our teams to center, urge people to cooperate, says SDM
Srinagar, April 04 (KINS): Dozens of Kashmiri people kept under mandatory 14 day quarantine at Vijapur Jammu since March 26, on Saturday alleged ill-treatment by the quarantine Centre authorities.
“We found an insect in the tea provided by the authorities here in the quarantine center. Accordingly we lodged a complaint with the authorities, but instead of taking any action, we were threatened, allegedly thrashed and ill-treated. If this treatment continues, I will commit suicide,” a visibly upset youth told KINS over phone.
Similar, concerns were expressed by other Kashmiri people under quarantine at the same facility.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, told KINS that he has spoken to the authorities and has urged the people to maintain calm. “There are some vested interests, whose job is to trigger a trouble. Everything is under control and there is no need to panic,” he said.
SDM Samba when contacted told KINS that those under the quarantine facility are being provided with proper food etc and if there is any complete that will be addressed. “We have sent our team and have appealed the people to cooperate,” he said.(KINS)
