Bandipora admin begins production of 4 lakh masks for its citizens

Roped in services of SHGs, local tailors, KVIB to meet the April 20 deadline

BANDIPORA, APRIL 11: In order to ensure safety of general public amid Corona virus pandemic, the Bandipora Administration has started manufacturing masks for citizen of the district and has hired the services of Self Help Groups and local artisans for this purpose.

Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, said that every citizen of the district will be provided a mask, as it is mandatory to wear mask. He said administration has started making masks and has set a target to make and distribute 4 lac masks till April 20.

He said that the administration has roped in hundreds of local entrepreneur, self-help groups (SHGs) for the mass production of masks in the district to meet the deadline of April 20.  He further said that masks are being made under the set guidelines and all the raw material is being provided to the SHGs for the production of the same.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, who is looking after the COVID-19 preventive measures, said that so far seventy thousand masks have been manufactured and distributed among the rural population through the Rural Development department.

He added that so far 48,174 masks were manufactured by the SHGs of SRLM and the production is in full swing and the administration is utilizing the services of local tailor shops, Self Help Groups of SRLM, KVIB besides seeking community participation including PRIs to meet the deadline set. He said the masks are being provided as a preventive measure.
