Advisor Farooq Khan visits Poonch; reviews status of essential services, distt admin’s measures

POONCH, APRIL 17: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today, visited the border district Poonch to review the measures being implemented to deal with COVID-19 pandemic besides assessing the status of essential services in the district.

During the extensive visit to the district, Advisor inspected the Quarantine centre and Sanitization Tunnel established at District Police Line Poonch. He also visited COVID-19 Health centre established at new Block District Hospital Poonch where he inspected the sampling facility to be made operational soon.

Advisor was apprised of the functioning of various quarantine centers established at 50 different places with a total capacity of 1849 beds. He directed the CMO to keep a close vigil on all the people who are home quarantined.

Later, Advisor Khan reviewed the status of availability and distribution of essential services during a meeting held in this regard at Dak Bungalow Poonch.

Advisor Khan took stock of various essential services operational in the district and directed the concerned department to ensure that sufficient stock of ration is available to cater to the needs of the people. He asked for distribution of ration for the months of April and May in time. He also directed to ensure that benefit of Center’s initiative PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojna reaches to all the eligible beneficiaries.

While reviewing the working of Social Welfare Department, Advisor Khan was informed that 10621 new cases have been sanctioned, payment of which will be transferred to the beneficiaries’ account soon.

Farooq Khan also took stock of assistance being provided by the district administration to the migrant laborers of other states stranded in Poonch due to the outbreak of Corona virus.

Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, informed the Advisor that a total of 1630 migrant labourers are being facilitated at 15 locations by the district administration.

Regarding the working of Police department, Advisor Khan directed the SSP for proper sensitization of all Police personnel who have been deployed for duty during the COVID-19 pandemic.

DC, Rahul Yadav, SSP Ramesh Angral, ADC, ACR besides concerned district officers were present in the meeting.
