Srinagar Police arrests 16 persons for defying Govt orders

April 23: “`Acting tough against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Police in a series of action have arrested 16 persons and seized 03 vehicles in Srinagar.

In the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowgam, Police have arrested 13 persons and also seized 03 vehicles for defying the Govt orders issued u/s 144 CrPC amid Coronavirus pandemic.

Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 47/2020, 48/2020, 49/2020, 50/2020, 51/2020, 52/2020, 53/2020, 54/2020 and 55/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Nowgam and further investigation into the cases have been initiated.

In the jurisdiction of Police Station Panthachowk, Police have booked 03 persons for violating the lockdown orders. In this regard, cases vide FIR numbers 23/2020, 24/2020 and 25/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Panthachowk and further investigation has been initiated.

Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly.“`
