Last rites of slain cop held at native village with state honour

Srinagar, 04 May (KINS): The last rites of slain Sub Inspector Sageer Ahmad Pathan @Qazi, who was killed yesterday at Handwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, was held with state honours at his native village Taad, Karnah Kupwara last night.

As the 42-year-old’s body wrapped in tricolour was brought, number of people from the village reached to pay their last respects him, a police statement issued to news agency KINS said.

Major 2 Jatt Mukesh Kumar Basit, DySP Kupwara Rashid Younis, DySP DAR Handwara Shri Raqib Malik and SHO Tangdhar Waseem Ahmad were among those who paid their last respects, the statement reads.

“On 2nd May, when inputs were received about the presence of militants in village Chanjmulla, Handwara, SI Sageer Ahmad led the Police team under the command CO 21 RR Col. Ashutosh Sharma and launched the operation. While evacuating the civilians from the targeted house. The brave heart officer of J&K Police along two army officers and two jawans attained martyrdom by sacrificing their lives for the integrity and sovereignty of the nation,” the statement said.(KINS)
