SDSJK slams “baseless allegations” levied on GDC Srinagar

Srinagar May 18: Society of Dental Surgeons, J&K (SDSJK) has strongly rebutted the news doing rounds in which it’s stated that the young lady patient who died on 17th of this month got infected with the novel corona virus at Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar.

In a statement Dr Imtyaz Banday, President SDSJK has strongly condemned the content of news item circulated by some “pseudo journalist just to sensationalise a saddening and heart wrenching death of a young lady, that too even without ascertaining the facts and chronology of the case clinically”.

Sharing the loss of the grief stricken family Dr Basharat Shah (Executive Member SDSJK) said that the deceased lady was admitted at Govt SMHS hospital with evident clinical complications. “On 5th of this month a call was made to GDC Srinagar for examination/consultation of the said patient. The patient was shifted from Govt. SMHS Hospital to GDC Srinagar and treated as per treatment plan following Covid SOPs. The Patient was then shifted back to SMHS Hospital,” he said.

In SMHS hospital, the statement said the patient was treated to their best but her condition worsened due to sepsis and eventually died of septic shock. “Meanwhile she was also tested for Covid as per protocol which came out to be positive,” it said.

Dr Manzoor Dar (Executive Member SDSJK) reiterated that without proper fact finding and authentication of source one should refrain from making irresponsible statements as it can create unnecessary havoc and chaos among already overburdened health care system and a colossal threat factor among employees & patients.

Dr Adil Wani, Spokesperson SDSJK has stressed authorities to take a strong course of action against these “unsurcuplous elements”.
