Sopore gunfight ends, two bodies recovered : Police

Srinagar, June 25(KINS): Police on Thursday said that eight hour long gunfight ended with the killing of two unidentified militants in north Kashmir’s Sopore village.

A senior police officer told news agency KINS that two bodies were found near the debris of encounter site at Hardshiva area of Sopore. The officer said that police are yet to identify the bodies of the deceased militants. Two AK 47 rifles were recovered form them the officer added.

Earlier at wee hours of Thursday a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, SOG Sopore and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Hardshiva area of Sopore following inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure authorities suspended internet services in parts of Sopore.(KINS)
