Five Fresh Deaths take J&K’s COVID toll to 148

Srinagar, July 08(KINS): With five more deaths on Wednesday, COVID19 mortality in J&K reached 148.

An official told the news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service(KINS) that three fresh deaths include a 36-year-old woman from Nehru Park Srinagar, a 70-year-old woman from Shopian, a 65-year-old man from Baramulla, a 75-year-old man from Batmaloo and a 44-year-old man from Sopore town became fresh victims of this deadly virus in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

 Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura told KINS that a 36-year-old woman from Nehru Park Srinagar on Wednesday died at a hospital, six days after she tested positive for this virus. He said She was a known case of hypertension with T2DM,”. The young woman had ‘post renal transplant’ in 2016 and she had reported to hospital’s emergency on June 28 with complaints of shortness of breath, Professor Jan said.“She was admitted and a preliminary diagnosis of pneumothorax was made and covid-19 sample was taken which came out positive on July 2. The patient had B/L Intercostal drain in place,” he added.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Nazir Choudhary told KINS that a 70-year-old woman from Shopian with Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) died last evening at the hospital.

While sharing the details of a 65-year-old man from Baramulla Dr. Nazir Choudhary said hours after the death of the patient, his sample for COVID-19 returned positive on Wednesday morning. “He had bilateral pneumonia. The patient was very critical,”.

Medical Superintendent at Chest Disease hospital Srinagar Dr. Saleem Tak told KINS that two persons died on Wednesday evening here at the hospital of COVID-19. He said a 44-year-old man from Sopore town of Baramulla district and a 75-year-old man from Batmaloo Srinagar. With five more deaths, the toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 148 including 134 from Kashmir and 14 from Jammu division.
