DCs to frame schedule for opening of markets on July 28, 29, 30: Div Com

Srinagar July 22(KINS): Administration on Wednesday announced strict lock down across Kashmir till July 27.
An official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that decision for strict lock down has been taken in view increase in COVID-19 cases.
“Strict restrictions will be in place from tomorrow. The step is necessary to contain spread of coronavirus,” the official said.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole said restrictions will be imposed till July 27.
“In view of Eid ul Azha, DCs will frame a schedule for three days (July 28, 29 and 30) at what time and which market will remain open in their respective districts. People should celebrate Eid with simplicity. They should go out only to purchase essentials,” Divisional Commissioner Kashmir told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
DC Srinagar Shahid Chowdhary said people should cooperate with the administration and adhere guidelines.
“Government is making all efforts to contain spread of the virus and we need the cooperation of the people,” he told KINS.
At least 15258 positive cases have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir till July 21.
While 6540 are Active Positive, 8455 have recovered and 263 have died; 20 in Jammu division and 243 in Kashmir division.
In its advisory government says the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”
