Gandagi Mukht Bharat Campaign begins in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 09 (KINS): As a part of Nationwide weeklong behavior change sanitation Campaign” Gandagi Mukht Bharat”, The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir  launched the campaign in all its Districts and Blocks.


According to news agency Kashmir Indpeth News Service (KINS) the campaign was started with E-Ratri Chaupal with Sarpanches  throughout the UT by District Panchayat Officers  under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners.


“On 9th of August, 2020, a plastic collection and segregation campaign led by Sarpanches was undertaken in all Districts and Blocks.  People are participating in large numbers enthusiastically in the campaign in all the areas of the UT,” the officials said here. 


They said that all the activities vis-a-vis Gandadi Mukht Bharat Campaign have been planned in such a manner that standard operating procedures (SOP) prescribed by government for containment of spread of COVID -19 are followed religiously.


During the ongoing week on each day special Swachta initiatives in rural areas to reinforce the ‘jan andolan’ for ‘swachta’ and to promote positive behavioral change on sanitation and hygiene are scheduled.


At the District level the campaign is being led by the District Panchayat Officers under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners.


The campaign at UT level is being led by Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K under the overall supervision and guidance of Secretary RDD & PR, J&K.


It is to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (August 8, 2020) launched “Gandagi Mukt Bharat”, a week-long campaign for ‘swachhata’ in the run-up to Independence Day.


PM Modi launched the campaign while inaugurating the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra (RSK) which is an interactive experience centre on the Swachh Bharat Mission at the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti at Rajghat in New Delhi. (KINS)
