Reasi: Director HD reviews achievement under Govt schemes; inspects nurseries


Srinagar, Sep 11 (KINS): Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak today conducted an extensive tour of District Reasi and inspected the Departmental nurseries and other installations. 

He also reviewed the performance of the Department, including implementation of horticulture promotions schemes at a meeting.
The Chief Horticulture Officer appraised him regarding progress of different Centrally sponsored schemes as well as Capex budget and status of the physical achievements made during the current year.

The Director visited the Fruit Plant Nursery at Dagozi Bagh to ascertain the achievements made regarding the budding / grafting for the production of quality fruit plants. He instructed the officers to make all the Public Sector nurseries more viable for production of quality planting material to achieve self-sufficiency.


He inspected the rainy season plantation, orchards and other developmental activities at Katra. He elaborated the schemes of the Department of Horticulture in detail to the gathering of farmers and distributed fruit plants under the Back Yard Horticulture scheme at Bhagta Panchayat.


He also interacted with the BDC Chairpersons of Panthal, Katra and Chassana and other PRIs and visited the Processing Centre established at Panthal for making value added products like Pickle, Jam, Murabba, Sauce etc.


The Director also impressed upon the officers to convene mass awareness programmes to aware the farmers about schemes of the Department so that they can avail maximum benefits of the initiative taken by govt for the uplift of the Farming Community.
Joint Director Horticulture, L.K. Bali; Deputy Director Planning Jammu, Ankita Sharma; Chief Horticulture Officer Reasi, Mukesh Sharma; SMSs and other concerned accompanied the Director during the visit.(KINS)
