Farm laws in favour of farmers: CITH Director

Srinagar, Jan 09 (KINS): Director Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (ICAR-CITH), Srinagar, Dr Desh Beer Singh said that the recent farm laws namely Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and facilitation) Act 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 will help the stakeholders including farmers and consumers in bringing the price stability by creating competitive market environment.
In a brief chat with news agency KINS, Director said, “These laws will prevent the post-harvest losses and wastage of produce that happens due to lack of storage facilities. Before these laws middlemen were playing role in selling the farm produce in APMC mandis and now after implementation of these laws the farmers will be free to sell their produce in APMC mandi or any other seller of their choice to get appropriate price of their produce even at their doorstep,” he said.(KINS)
