Security forces launch CASO, intensify frisking in Anantnag

Srinagar, Jul 2 (KINS) Security forces on Friday morning launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, where a fresh alert was sounded in view of a militant attack that left a policeman injured last night.

Meanwhile, security forces were checking vehicles and the identity cards of drivers, besides frisking pedestrians randomly on K P road in Anantnag.

Official sources said that security forces have sealed all the entry and exit points to Anchidora in Anantnag on Friday morning following inputs about the presence of the militant responsible for Lazibal attack. “Security force personnel were conducting house-to-house searches in the area,” they said.

They said checkpoints have also been established at various places on K P road and adjoining areas, where vehicles were being stopped and checked randomly. “Security forces were also frisking and checking the identity cards of pedestrians before allowing them to move forward,” they added.

An unidentified militant fired at a police party with a pistol at around 2050 near Lazibal in Anantnag, resulting in injuries to a policeman.  (Source: UNI )
