Covid-19 under control, but not over yet: DC Budgam

 

BUDGAM, JULY 20 ( KINS ): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today said that although Covid-19 is under control in the district as less number of cases are reported on day to day basis, but the Pandemic is not over yet.

The DC said this during a press briefing here to present the current scenario of Covid in the district.

Giving details, the DC said that presently there are only 84 active positive cases across the district and the positivity rate is below 0.2 percent at present.

Regarding vaccination, the DC said that the district Budgam has successfully achieved a 100 percent vaccination target of 45 and above age group. With regard to vaccination status of 18 to 44 age category, he said that the vaccination drive is going on and public in this age group are requested to come forward and get vaccinated.

The DC emphasized for massive participation in the vaccination drive to stop the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the festival of Eid ul Adha will be celebrated tomorrow, the DC once again appealed to all to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour, all mandated COVID-19 SOPs and avoid unnecessary gatherings particularly in congested places.

He further appealed to the general public to offer Eid prayers at home as public gathering at any place is not permitted above 25 persons. Offering Eid prayer at home will help avert a surge in positive Covid-19 cases in the district shall be minimized, he added.

The DC emphasized that a bit of complacency has been noticed with some people not wearing face masks which creates a potential threat of spreading Covid-19 infection, such complacency is unreasonable and the public should adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour strictly.

He further stressed that the next three months are going to be crucial to avert the looming threat of the 3rd wave of Covid-19, and in this regard, self-discipline and an element of seriousness needs to be displayed by the public in the district.

The DC also offered his best wishes to the general public of the district on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha.
