PDP holds massive protest in support of Jammu Bandh call

JAMMU, Sep 22 ( KINS): People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today staged a massive protest in support of the Jammu Bandh call given by the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Led by Abdul Hamid Choudhary, Vice President PDP, the protesting leaders as well as party cadre assembled outside the Party Head Office in Jammu and raised slogans like BJP Sharm Karo …..Sharm Karo, Jammu ko Bachena Band Karo …. Band Karo.
Talking to reporters, Abdul Hamid Choudhary emphasized that today’s protest was called against the opening of Reliance retail stores in the city, adding that these new outlets will badly damage the small businessmen and destroy their age old family businesses.
The senior PDP leader asserted that the Jammu and Kashmir has been put on sale by the Union Government for the people from outside the Jammu and Kashmir UT. He stated that the contracts of liquor businesses under the New Excise Policy have been given to the people from outside Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that all the big projects, including mining contracts, have been allotted to the outsiders.
Amrik Singh Reen, PDP’s General Secretary said that the introduction of Reliance Stores in Jammu will have an adverse impact on thousands of wholesalers as well as retailers affecting lakhs of family members. He said that we will never allow the BJP to open Reliance Stores in Jammu and play with the livelihood of small traders.
Among those who joined the protest included PAC Member Mohammad Qureshi, Vice President Women Wing Surjeet Kour, Balbir Singh State Secretary, E Peter State Secretary, Ranbir Singh Manga, Ch Parvez Waffa, Varinder Singh, Tazeem Dar, Nadeem Khan, Harmeet Singh, Majid Shah, Naveen Sharma, Daleep Baru, Narinder Sharma, Rajat Randhawa and other leaders.( KINS)
