Police arrests timber smuggler in Pulwama

March 23: Police have arrested a timber smuggler and seized illicit timber in Pulwama.

Acting on specific information about timber smuggling, a Police Party from Police Station Rajpora at a checkpoint established at Shadimarg intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK03B-3975. During search of the vehicle, huge quantity of illicit timber was recovered. The driver of the vehicle identified as Mohd Altaf Dar son of Gh Mohd Dar resident of Ayangund Rajpora was arrested. Besides, vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized. He has been shifted to PS where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 18/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Rajpora and investigation has been taken up.

Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
