Tony castigates Govt for pooling PG medical seats in All India quota, demands roll back

SUCHETGARH, JUN 22: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has strongly condemned the decision of Govt to pool PG seats of J&K in All India Quota.
In a statement issued to media here today, Taranjit Singh Tony said that the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State was converted into Union Territory for benefit of the people of this region and not for their loss or perpetrating sufferings upon them. Coming out strongly in support of the agitating doctors on this significant issue, Tony said “we should never tolerate such injustice with doctors who are the locals of this Union Territory and have served the people of this region through thick and thin especially during the during the Covid-19 pandemic by risking their lives and staying away from their houses and family members for long duration”.

He said that many doctors lost their lives across the nation while serving the patients during the pandemic.
Tony said that on one hand PM Modi termed these doctors as front line warriors and on the other hand after passing away rather easing of the pandemic the Govt is snatching their rights by pooling their PG seats in All India Quota as a result of which the aspiring doctors of Jammu and Kashmir will be at a serious loss. He recalled that already J&K is facing serious dearth of doctors and health workers across the region and in this backdrop the decision does not augur with the prevailing scenario amid Covid-19 seemingly showing yet again a rising trend during the past one month.
He appealed to the Govt to immediately roll back the decision of pooling the PG seats in the All India Quota at the earliest failing which Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will launch a massive agitation in support of these doctors’ demands.
