J&K govt suspends lecturer who appeared before SC in Article 370 case Violation of J&K CSR, Employee Conduct Rules and Leave Rules: School Education Department

Srinagar, Aug 25: Jammu & Kashmir Government on Friday suspended a lecturer who had appeared before the Supreme Court on Wednesday and argued against abrogation of Article 370 and reorganization of J&K.

The School Education Department today placed Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, senior lecturer, political science under suspension with immediate effect for violation of provisions of Jammu & Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, Jammu & Kashmir Government Employees Conduct Rules, J&K Leave Rules.

“During the period of suspension, the delinquent shall remain attached in the office of Director School Education Jammu,” reads the order.

The government has also ordered that Subah Mehta, joint director, School Education, Jammu shall conduct an in-depth inquiry in the conduct of the delinquent officer.

Zahoor, who also holds a degree in law, appeared for himself before the Supreme Court on Wednesday and argued against August 5, 2019 decisions—(KNO)
