Srinagar, Jan 22: In a startling incident, a wild boar wreaked havoc in the bustling main market of Kulgam, South Kashmir, leaving a trail of chaos and injuring five individuals.
The alarming episode transpired on a busy Monday afternoon around 1:10 P.M. as the boar made an unexpected entrance into the market, inciting panic among the shoppers.
The untamed animal, disregarding the presence of people, aggressively pursued them into a narrow lane within the market precinct. The ensuing chaos resulted in the boar inflicting bites on at least four individuals. The victims, identified as Ziyan Mushtaq Mir, Abdul Aziz Mir, Irfan Yusuf, Faizan Bhat, and Qasim Mushtaq, faced immediate medical attention and were swiftly transported to the District Hospital in Kulgam.
In response to the urgent situation, a coordinated effort was initiated, with both the police and wildlife officials converging on the scene to bring the situation under control. Their primary objective was to capture the marauding boar and prevent further harm to the public. The incident underscores the unexpected challenges posed by wildlife encounters in urban areas, prompting a prompt and strategic response from local authorities to safeguard public safety.
