Srinagar, Feb 15: Key leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory are gearing up for crucial discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi during a two-day BJP Working Group meeting scheduled for February 17th and 18th.
The meeting holds significant importance as the party strategizes its approach ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Among the prominent figures expected to participate in the discussions are BJP UT Chief Ravinder Raina, General Secretary (Organizations) Ashok Koul, and National Secretary Narinder Singh.
The Working Group meeting, slated to take place at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, will serve as a platform for intense deliberations on various electoral strategies and policy frameworks.
With the Lok Sabha elections looming on the horizon, the BJP aims to fine-tune its approach to ensure a robust performance in the polls.
Sources familiar with the matter suggest that the agenda of the meeting will encompass a wide range of topics, including but not limited to electoral strategy formulation, grassroots mobilization efforts, and outreach initiatives.
The discussions are expected to be comprehensive, focusing on leveraging the party’s strengths and addressing any existing challenges in the political landscape of the country.
The participation of BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh, who oversees party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, further underscores the significance of the meeting.
Chugh’s expertise and insights are expected to enrich the discussions and contribute to the formulation of effective strategies tailored to the specific needs of the region.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that a two-day national convention is scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam concurrently with the meeting.
The event, coinciding with the impending Lok Sabha polls, will witness the inauguration by BJP National President J.P. Nadda, followed by the closing address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18th.
The primary objective of these high-level deliberations is to formulate a robust electoral strategy, with the BJP setting ambitious targets of securing over 400 Lok Sabha seats and aiming to garner more than 51 percent of the votes in the upcoming April-May elections.
Within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP is strategically eyeing an additional Lok Sabha seat, aiming to surpass its previous victories in the 2014 and 2019 polls. While expressing confidence in securing the Jammu and Udhampur seats for a third consecutive term, the party is intensifying its efforts to capture the Anantnag-Poonch-Rajouri (APR) seat.
In a related development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to kickstart the election campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, with a public rally scheduled at the Maulana Azad Stadium on February 20th. The rally is expected to galvanize support and set the tone for the BJP’s electoral campaign in the region.(KNS)
