School Education Department Goes Digital: E-Office Implementation Set to Replace Physical Files, Speedy Issue Disposal Expected

Srinagar, Feb 15: In a bid to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, the School Education Department has issued instructions for the implementation of E-office, replacing physical files with electronic ones. This move aims to expedite the disposal of issues and bring about a more seamless administrative process.

Under the directives outlined in Government Order No. 820-JK(Edu) of 2021, along with subsequent instructions from the General Administration Department, all departmental offices are mandated to transition to the E-office mode of working. The transition will be facilitated by the IT Department, providing necessary support such as VPN connections, creation of domain-specific email IDs, and training for local administrators.

Subordinate offices of the School Education Department are urged to swiftly adapt to the new system, with deadlines set for each level of administration. According to Circular No. 03-JK (Edu) of 2024, the Directorate level to CEO level transition must be completed before 31st March, while the Zonal level/Cluster Head level transition is expected by or before 30th April.

The directive emphasizes strict adherence to the given timelines, with progress to be regularly reviewed in meetings. Directors are also tasked with identifying areas where records need to be routed through both physical and online modes.

This move towards digitalization underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing administrative processes, with the ultimate goal of expediting issue resolution and improving overall efficiency in the School Education Department.
