Srinagar, Mar 23: In a significant operation today, police and security forces in Srinagar have dismantled a major terror module associated with the banned group JeM, leading to the apprehension of four terrorist associates.
Following specific intelligence, a joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) comprised of Srinagar Police, 50 RR, Valley QRT, and 29Bn CRPF was established in the Kenihama area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowgam in the evening. The joint party intercepted a white Alto vehicle during routine checks, leading to the arrest of four terror associates identified as Md Yaseen Bhat, Sheraz Ahmad Rather, Gulam Hassan Khandey, and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat.
Upon their arrest, incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition were seized from their possession, including an AK 56 rifle with 3 magazines, 75 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition, a Glock Pistol with 2 magazines, 26 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and 6 Chinese grenades. Preliminary investigations have revealed their affiliation with the proscribed terror outfit JeM.
A case (FiR No.31/2024) has been registered under sections 18, 23, 39 UAPA, 7/25 Arms Act, and 120b of the IPC at Police Station Nowgam. Further investigations are underway to dismantle any remaining links and thwart potential terrorist activities.
