Light snowfall hits Kashmir’s higher reaches, temporarily shutting key routes

Srinagar, Nov 12 ( KINS ) : Intermittent snowfall in Kashmir’s higher reaches, which began on Monday, continued through the night, causing temporary closures of essential routes, officials reported Tuesday. Snowfall was noted in the upper regions of Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and parts of Kupwara and Bandipora districts.
The Srinagar-Leh highway, initially shut due to snow, was reopened after snow clearance efforts by the Border Roads Organisation. However, Mughal Road and Sinthan Top, connecting various regions of Kashmir, remain closed due to snow accumulation.
The Meteorological Department predicts mostly dry weather until November 13, with a chance of light snowfall or rain in higher areas from November 14-16, followed by dry conditions from November 17-23. ( KINS )
