Srinagar, May 01: Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education (H&ME), led an Executive Committee meeting of the State Health Society, National Health Mission (NHM). The agenda focused on executing approved activities outlined in the State Programme Implementation Plan for the fiscal year 2024-25 and disbursing funds to District Health Societies and other implementing agencies.
During the session, Mission Director NHM, Nazim Zai Khan, presented a comprehensive overview through a PowerPoint Presentation. This included an Action Taken Report on previous meeting minutes, the approval of the annual Programme Implementation Plan, budget sheets for 2024-25, and other pertinent issues.
Dr. Abid Rasheed emphasized the importance of reducing out-of-pocket expenses at public health facilities by ensuring proper implementation and availability of funds for various welfare schemes, particularly those pertaining to Maternal and Child Health.
Addressing the need for transparency and efficiency, Dr. Abid Rasheed called for strengthening the recruitment process at district and UT levels to minimize litigations and enhance system integrity. Additionally, discussions ensued on matters concerning the welfare and career advancement of NHM employees.
The meeting saw the participation of various stakeholders, including Principals of Government Medical Colleges, key officials from finance, health, and planning departments, as well as representatives from related agencies and departments.
