Srinagar May 13: International Nurses Day was celebrated at GMC Srinagar on May 11 with this year’s theme being ‘Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power for Care.’
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah.
In attendance were Principal/Dean of GMC Srinagar, Dr. Iffat Shah, Administrator of GMC Srinagar, Mohd. Ashraf Hakak, Medical Superintendents, Heads of various Specialties, Faculty Members, Matrons, Assistant Matrons, Nursing Supervisors, Nursing Officers, and students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Abid Rashid Shah praised the commendable work of nursing professionals at GMC Srinagar and emphasized the need to uplift the nursing profession in the coming years. He also stressed on the professional growth of nursing professionals and the adoption of the latest trends and technology in nursing, as seen in other countries worldwide.
Among the nursing fraternity, Mussaver Rashid Khwaja, Nursing Officer from the Department of Kidney Transplant Super Speciality Hospital, discussed future trends in Nursing. Mussaver requested the secretary to initiate steps for the upgradation of the nursing profession and its personnel, including in-service education, the utilization of latest technology in GMC hospitals, training for nursing professionals, launching new courses like Nurse Practitioner, implementing Indian Nursing Council rules in Jammu and Kashmir, and facilitating nurses to attend national and international conferences and workshops.
Finally, certificates were awarded to some nursing professionals for their commendable work in GMC and associated hospitals.”
