Srinagar, June 23: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdi, visited the Baltal main yatra camp today to assess security arrangements and review facilities in preparation for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra.
Accompanied by senior police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) officers, the IGP conducted a thorough inspection to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for all participants.
During his visit, IGP Birdi evaluated the regulation and parking of vehicles at Baltal, stressing the efficient management of resources to streamline the movement of pilgrims and vehicles. He also reviewed the implementation of cut-off timings to mitigate potential risks during the pilgrimage.
Disaster management preparedness was a key focus, with IGP Birdi overseeing the readiness of teams and infrastructure to handle emergencies effectively. The security of the helipad for heli service operations was also assessed, with stringent protocols emphasized to ensure the safety of aerial transportation for pilgrims.
At the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR) in Baltal, seamless coordination among all stakeholders involved in managing the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2024 was emphasized. Additionally, the IGP reviewed access control mechanisms at Domail, security arrangements along the route from Srinagar to Baltal, and various camping sites enroute, advising officers to fortify security measures and enhance safety parameters.
Following the inspections, IGP Birdi engaged in constructive discussions with Police and CAPF officers stationed at Baltal. The discussions focused on refining strategies to bolster security frameworks and optimize operational efficiencies, reaffirming the commitment to a safe and incident-free Amarnath Yatra.
