SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo recently chaired a meeting to strategize the readiness of Legislative Assembly complexes in Srinagar and Jammu for the upcoming sessions following the elections in the UT.
Attendees included the Principal Secretary of Estates, Principal Secretary of Finance, Commissioner Secretary of IT, JK Resident Commissioner in Delhi, and other key officials.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Dulloo emphasized the need for immediate renovations and refurbishments of the Assembly complexes in both cities. He highlighted the importance of ensuring operational sound systems, internet connectivity, fire safety measures, functional lifts, and overall building improvements.
Dulloo also stressed the need to upgrade the Chambers of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Leader of Opposition, and to ensure proper provisions for their official vehicles and residential accommodations. Additionally, he called for repairs to the MLA Hostels in both cities.
The Chief Secretary urged the administration to complete these upgrades and repairs within the available timeframe before the Election Commission of India announces the assembly elections. He underscored the importance of preemptive measures to ensure smooth functioning of the legislative process once the new assembly is in place.
