Anantnag Gears Up for First Phase of Assembly Elections: 6.67 Lakh Voters Across Seven Constituencies

SRINAGAR, Aug 23 (KINS): Anantnag district is all set for the upcoming first phase of the 2024 Assembly Elections. With a total of 6.67 lakh registered voters, the district’s electorate will head to the polls across seven Assembly constituencies. The constituencies include Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara-Bijbehara, Shangus-Anantnag East, and Pahalgam. The electorate comprises 3,36,185 males, 3,31,592 females, and 4 transgender individuals.
To ensure smooth voting, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up 844 polling stations across the district. These include specialized stations like 61 special polling stations, 33 model stations, 4 green stations, 7 pink stations, 7 PWD stations, 1 youth polling station, and 9 unique stations.
The largest constituency, Anantnag West, has 1,26,006 registered voters. The polling is scheduled for September 18, 2024, with the last date for nominations set for August 27. The election process is well underway, with preparations in place to ensure a successful democratic exercise.
