DIG NKR Baramulla Reviews Independence Day Preparations and Security Arrangements in Handwara

Srinagar, Aug 12 (KINS): DIG North Kashmir Range, Baramulla, Vinod Kumar-IPS, visited Police District Handwara and chaired a security review meeting with officers of Handwara Police, CAPFs and sister agencies in connection with the forthcoming Independence Day-2026 celebrations.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on security arrangements, deployment plans, area domination, access control, traffic management and coordination among various security agencies to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the celebrations.

SSP Handwara Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS gave a detailed presentation on the security and precautionary measures taken so far in the run-up to 15th August, as well as the measures planned for the coming days. He also briefed the DIG NKR on intensified checking and frisking, patrolling, area domination and operational preparedness across the Police District.

A detailed review of the overall security scenario was also conducted. The DIG NKR directed all officers to remain vigilant, strengthen security measures at vulnerable locations, intensify patrolling and checking and ensure effective coordination and timely sharing of intelligence among all agencies. Emphasis was laid on maintaining a high level of alertness and preparedness while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the general public.

Police and all participating agencies reiterated their commitment to ensuring safe, peaceful and incident-free Independence Day celebrations across Police District Handwara.(KINS)
