Srinagar, Aug 27 (KINS): In a coordinated operation, Anantnag Police, along with the Army and CRPF, successfully arrested three suspected terror associates, dealing a significant blow to terrorist activities in the district. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during the operation.
The arrests took place at Wopzan Trijunction during a joint checkpoint, leading to the detention of the following individuals:
1. Umaiq Mushtaq Zargar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, resident of Karewa Colony, Bijbehara
2. Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Yaqoob Dar, resident of Dar Mohalla, Arwani
3. Shahid Ahmad Gadhanji, son of Sonaullah Gadhanji, resident of Dar Mohalla, Arwani
Seized items included:
– 1 pistol
– 2 pistol magazines
– 23 pistol rounds
– 2 grenades
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were planning subversive activities in the Anantnag district under the direction of Lashkar-e-Taiba handlers.
A case has been registered at PS Bijbehara under FIR No. 172/2024, with charges under sections of the Arms Act and UAPA Act. Investigations are ongoing.(KINS)
