J&K cracks down on corruption: 77 Cases registered by ACB in 9 months

Srinagar, October 17 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has intensified its efforts to root out corruption across the Union Territory, registering 77 cases as of September 2024.
The ACB has been actively pursuing cases of disproportionate assets, bribery, abuse of office, and misappropriation of funds involving officials from various departments.
According to data available with news agency KINS, the highest number of cases, 20, have been registered at the Srinagar Police Station, followed by 19 cases at the Central Police Station. Notably, no cases were registered at ACB’s Udhampur Police Station during this period.
The Kashmir division saw a total of 37 cases, with Srinagar leading with 20, followed by Baramulla with 12, and Anantnag with five. In Jammu division, 14 cases were recorded at the Jammu Police Station, while five were registered in Rajouri and two in Doda.
One significant case involved, a former employee of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department in Baramulla, who was charged with disproportionate assets.
The government’s ongoing crackdown on corruption aims to hold public officials accountable and ensure transparency in governance throughout Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
