Srinagar: Senior Trade Union leader and President Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu Kashmir ( E J A C ) Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Altaf Ahmad Handoo, General Secretary of EJAC and President of the Health and Family Welfare Department, who left for heavenly abode today on 18th October 2024. In a condolence message, Shabnam described Handoo as more than just a colleague, referring to him as a brother who stood by him in all circumstances. He praised Handoo for his humility, politeness, and grounded nature.

Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam emphasized the significant contribution of Altaf Ahmad Handoo to the Trade Union movement and the Employees Joint Action Committee. He acknowledged Handoo’s tireless efforts in advocating for the rights of employees. He noted that Handoo’s demise has left a deep void not only within EJAC but also in the larger trade union fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir.

Describing Handoo as a pillar of strength within the organization, Shabnam highlighted his consistent support for the workers and his relentless commitment to addressing their concerns.

Shabnam extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for the departed soul to rest in Jannat ul Firdous and for the family to find strength and patience during this difficult time. He conveyed the organization’s collective sympathies to the grieving family.
