Policeman injured in accidental grenade blast at Baramulla Court Complex

Srinagar, Oct 24 (KINS): An accidental grenade blast occurred earlier today inside the District Court Complex in Baramulla, leaving one police personnel injured.

The explosion, which happened within the court’s Malkhana—where weapons and evidence are stored.

Security forces immediately rushed to the scene, securing the area and launching an investigation.

“A grenade went off accidentally inside the Malkhana. One of our personnel on duty sustained injuries and has been taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is stable,” a police official told news agency KINS.

The Baramulla Police have assured the public that the situation is under control, urging people not to believe in rumors circulating in the aftermath of the incident.

“We request the public to remain calm and not pay attention to any misinformation. Our team is thoroughly investigating the matter, and there is no reason for alarm,”

Interestingly, the blast took place on the same day as a planned visit by the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, adding to the urgency in securing the area.

Security forces continue to comb the area as part of standard procedure, ensuring the safety of all those present.

Authorities were focusing on confirming the accidental nature of the explosion and ensuring no further risks.

The injured police personnel is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital, and his condition is being closely monitored. (KINS)
