Srinagar, Oct 26: Srinagar Police have arrested a known fraudster, identified as Mirza Sajad Hussain Beigh, resident of Khushipora HMT, on charges of swindling a substantial ₹14,48,829 from an individual. The accused allegedly deceived the complainant, Rinchen Angchok from Ladakh, under the guise of arranging a petrol pump sanction on the Leh-Manali highway, claiming to possess influential connections.

The case, registered under FIR No. 117/24 at Police Station Parimpora, follows prior fraud cases against Beigh across the valley, including:

FIR No. 38/18 at PS Baramulla
FIR No. 23/13 at PS Zadibal

Beigh’s pattern reportedly involved posing as a politically connected figure, leveraging this false influence to gain victims’ trust before defrauding them of large sums. Additional complaints under the Negotiable Instruments Act and multiple non-bailable warrants have also been issued against him by various courts.

Police are advising the public to stay vigilant, verify credentials, and report suspicious individuals who claim influential connections. To report fraud or seek assistance, citizens are encouraged to contact their nearest police station or dial 112.
