Two terrorists killed in Sopore encounter: SP Sopore

Srinagar, Nov 8 : Security forces shot dead two unidentified militants in an ongoing operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore sub district, officials said on Friday.

The encounter erupted late Thursday when joint forces launched a cordon and a search operation in the Panipora area of Sopore following an input about militant presence.

“The CASO turned into an encounter when hiding terrorists opened fire. In the encounter that followed, two terrorists have been killed,” officials said, adding that the operation is still underway.

“Both the bodies, along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition, have been recovered from the encounter site,” said SP Sopore, Divya-D, while speaking to the media.

“Searches are currently underway in the entire area,” she added.

This is the third encounter since Tuesday in north Kashmir. In earlier two encounters, two militants were killed in separate encounters in Kupwara and Bandipora districts.
