Terrorist killed in encounter with security forces in Sopore

Srinagar, Nov 9: Security forces killed an unidentified terrorist in an encounter in the Sopore sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported on Saturday.

The clash, the second in Sopore since Friday, erupted in Rampora Sopore during a cordon-and-search operation conducted by joint security forces. According to a security official, “As the area was being cordoned off, the hiding terrorists opened fire, leading to a gunbattle. One terrorist has been neutralized.” The operation is still ongoing.

The identity and affiliation of the deceased terrorist are yet to be determined. This follows an earlier encounter on Friday in Panipora Sopore, where security forces eliminated two unidentified terrorists.
