Real Kashmir FC kicks off I-League with a 2-0 victory over Rajasthan

Srinagar, Nov 24: Srinagar’s TRC Ground came alive on Sunday as Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) began their I-League 2024-25 campaign with an emphatic 2-0 victory over Rajasthan United FC.

Cheered on by an enthusiastic and jam-packed home crowd, RKFC displayed dominance from the very first whistle, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.

Their efforts bore fruit early when local sensation Mohammad Inam capitalized on a defensive lapse to score the opening goal in the 11th minute of the game. The crowd erupted in celebration as Inam’s precise strike gave the home side a well-deserved lead.

RKFC continued to dominate the game, and in the 28th minute, Elhadji Abdou Karim Samb doubled the lead with a clinical finish.

By halftime, RKFC had established a commanding 2-0 advantage, leaving Rajasthan United FC struggling to find their footing in the match.

Despite opportunities in the second half, neither team managed to score. Amid loud chants and unwavering support from the packed stadium, RKFC maintained their composure to see out the match. The final whistle marked a perfect start to their campaign, earning the team three valuable points.

Speaking after the game, RKFC co-founder Arshad Shawl expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.

“We are thankful to the crowd for coming out in large numbers and supporting our team,” Shawl said.

The JKFA also felicitated Shawl for his efforts in nurturing local talent this season and promoting football in the Valley.

RKFC remains the only club from Jammu & Kashmir participating in the I-League.

Their next match is scheduled against Gokulam Kerala on November 29 at the TRC Ground in Srinagar.
