Srinagar, Dec 10 (KINS): A harsh cold wave continues to grip the Valley as temperatures plummet to their lowest levels of the season across Kashmir region.
As per the private forecaster, Sonamarg recorded the coldest temperature at -9.7°C, while Pahalgam and Shopian experienced -8.4°C and -8.5°C respectively. Anantnag and Pulwama also saw temperatures drop to -7.9°C and -8.3°C. The city of Srinagar felt the chill at -5.4°C, with other areas like Bandipora and Ganderbal reporting temperatures around -5°C.
In Jammu, the temperatures were relatively warmer, with Jammu at 5.4°C and Katra at 5.6°C. However, places like Banihal and Bhaderwah recorded temperatures below freezing, at -2.2°C and -3.4°C. Padder also experienced a cold -7.7°C.
The Ladakh region is facing even harsher conditions, with Leh and Kargil recording -13.2°C and -12.4°C, respectively.
The cold wave is expected to persist, with locals advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe as temperatures remain well below freezing.(KINS)
