New Delhi Dec 13 (KINS): National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament (MP) Mian Altaf has voiced his opposition to the proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ policy, criticizing the Union Cabinet’s decision to approve it in what he described as a “hurried manner.”
Speaking to reporters according to news agency KINS, Altaf said, “This is a significant decision that impacts the democratic framework of the country. We believe such matters require extensive deliberations and discussions, rather than being rushed through the Cabinet in a hurried manner.”
He further stated the importance of dialogue and debate on the proposal. “We want discussions to be held in Parliament, where all aspects of this policy can be examined thoroughly. During the session, MPs from the INDIA alliance will put forth their suggestions, allowing the people to understand its implications,” he said.
The ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill seeks to synchronize elections for the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, and local bodies. (KINS)
