Srinagar, Dec 27 (KINS): Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Managing Director of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), visited various areas of South Kashmir today to assess the restoration efforts following the recent heavy snowfall in the Valley.
During his visit, Shah conducted a thorough review of the restoration work, focusing particularly on the damage to transformers caused by the adverse weather and the subsequent reinstallation of these transformers at various sites. He praised the field staff and engineers for their swift actions in restoring power despite the challenging conditions, commending their professionalism and dedication.
The MD also evaluated ongoing development projects in Anantnag and Kulgam districts, directing officials from the Projects Wing and Power Implementing Agency (PIA), PGCIL, to expedite work to ensure timely completion. He stressed the importance of visible progress and urged all involved to prioritize tangible results.
Additionally, Shah inspected the 475 MVA 220 kV/132 kV Mir Bazar and Wanpoh Grids, reviewing power evacuation procedures from these critical installations. He instructed grid in-charges and sub-transmission officers to adhere strictly to the curtailment program, ensuring effective management of power supply during peak demand periods.
With inclement weather forecasted for January 6th and 7th, 2025, Shah emphasized the need for vigilance and preparedness. He directed officials to ensure that all necessary resources, including personnel and materials, are readily available to address any outages and restore power promptly.
Accompanying the MD were Superintending Engineer South Circle Bijbehara, Executive Engineers from the Electric Divisions of Anantnag, Bijbehara, and STD Bijbehara, as well as other concerned officers.
KPDCL reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable power supply to the people of Kashmir, with this visit underscoring the corporation’s proactive approach to addressing disruptions and enhancing infrastructure.(KINS)
