Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers; Contraband Substances Recovered

Srinagar, Jan 11 (KINS): In an ongoing effort to combat the menace of drugs, police in Kupwara and Sopore have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kupwara, a police team from Police Post Bazaar, during routine checking at Galizoo, intercepted two suspicious individuals. They have been identified as:
Mohd Ashraf Khan, son of Ghulam Ali Khan, a resident of Arampora Halmatpora.
Irshad Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, a resident of Halmatpora.
Upon conducting a personal search, police recovered 10 grams of a heroin-like substance from their possession.
In Sopore, a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Tarzoo, at a checkpoint established in Tarzoo, intercepted an individual carrying a nylon bag. He has been identified as:
Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh, a resident of Shorgari Mohalla, Tarzoo.
During the search, the police recovered 7.270 kilograms of a cannabis-like substance from his possession.
The accused individuals have been arrested and taken to their respective police stations. Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered, and further investigations are underway.
The police have urged citizens to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. They reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against criminals and sought public cooperation to eliminate drug-related issues in society.(KINS)
