Police recover 5.50 Lakhs &19 smartphones worth 3 Lakhs in Bandipora Cybercrime cases

Bandipora, Jan 15 (KINS): Police in Bandipora have made significant progress in addressing multiple complaints from the public about financial fraud, missing or stolen mobile phones, and other social media-related crimes.
Acting on these complaints, the police successfully recovered ₹5.50 lakhs from fraudsters’ accounts. The amount was refunded to the victims’ bank accounts following the completion of all necessary legal formalities.
Additionally, 19 missing or stolen smartphones valued at ₹3 lakhs were also recovered and returned to their rightful owners after completing legal procedures. The recipients expressed their gratitude and commended the police for their tireless efforts in recovering their hard-earned money and devices.
The police have advised the public to exercise caution while using mobile phones and electronic gadgets to protect themselves from cyber fraud and other online crimes. Victims of cybercrime are encouraged to register complaints through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in), the toll-free helpline number 1930, or by contacting the nearest police or Cyber Crime Unit, DPO Bandipora. For reporting lost or stolen mobile phones, citizens can also use the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in) managed by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.(KINS)
