KINS Desk

Srinagar, Jan 28 (KINS): National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday stated the significance of Article 370 as a measure designed to protect the rights and identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the revered Hazratbal Shrine, Dr. Abdullah according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said that Article 370 was introduced to safeguard local jobs and preserve rights of people of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh amidst concerns over external influence.
Dr. Abdullah also addressed the rising drug addiction in the region, calling it a grave menace that has devastated Kashmiri society. “Drugs have destroyed our nation,” he remarked, expressing deep concern about the issue’s growing impact. He called for collective responsibility, urging Kashmiris to look inward and address the problem themselves rather than attributing blame solely to external forces.
He praised the local police for their efforts in curbing drug trafficking but stressed the need for a more unified approach. “Until we, as Kashmiris, stand up against this menace, we will not overcome it,” he said, encouraging the community to take decisive action to combat drug addiction and reclaim their future.
Dr. Abdullah also reaffirmed his faith in Allah, urging patience, unity, and strength to overcome the challenges facing the region. (KINS)
