Family of Late BJP Leader Devender Rana Meets Amit Shah in Jammu
Jammu, Apr 7 (KINS): The family of late BJP leader and former legislator Devender Singh Rana met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Raj Bhavan here on Monday, an official said.
Rana, 59, passed away in October last year at a private hospital in Faridabad, Haryana, following a prolonged illness—just weeks after winning the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election from the Nagrota constituency.
Initially elected from Nagrota on a National Conference ticket in 2014, Rana switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2021.
His wife, Gunjan Rana, along with daughters Devyani and Ketki, met the Home Minister in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. His son, Adhiraj Singh, was not part of the meeting, the official added.
Devender Rana’s daughter, Devyani, was recently appointed as vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Jammu and Kashmir and is being seen as a likely BJP candidate from the Nagrota constituency, which fell vacant after her father’s demise.
The meeting took place during Shah’s three-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Minister arrived in Jammu on Sunday and later departed for Srinagar on Monday evening.(KINS)
