Rain, snow and thunderstorms in J&K till April 20; ‘Dry weather expected from April 22’

Srinagar, April 19 (KINS): The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory warning of heavy rain, snowfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across Jammu and Kashmir from April 19 to April 20.

News agency KINS reported that in a fresh advisory the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a comprehensive weather update and advisory for Jammu & Kashmir, forecasting a spell of unsettled weather from April 19 to April 21, 2025, with significant impacts expected across the region.

April 19–20: The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snowfall over higher reaches. Isolated to scattered areas may experience moderate to heavy rain/snow, especially on April 19. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also likely to occur till late evening on April 20.

April 21: Skies will remain generally cloudy, with a chance of light rain and thunder at scattered places.

April 22–28: A dry spell is expected across the region, although some cloudiness is likely around April 25.

Residents are urged to follow all administrative and traffic advisories during this period.

Farmers are advised to suspend all farm operations till April 21 due to weather uncertainty.

There’s a potential for moderate to heavy rain/snow in isolated to scattered locations on April 19.

Risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones remains high at vulnerable spots, especially in hilly and mountainous terrains.

People are advised to remain indoors during thunderstorms or lightning to ensure safety.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and preparedness measures are being emphasized across vulnerable regions.(KINS)
